i finally succeeded in deleting that pesky hidden "temp" folder with those hideously long filenames that didn't want to be deleted.
it seemed suspiciously like a virus: permissions were unavailable, couldn't delete, couldn't rename...
i had to kill all the inheritable permissions, reclaim ownership, and go to the command prompt using "attrib -s r4xyj9j80 (the folder name) and deleting everything in it manually.
finally.
oh yeah, and i got a 96 on my cs308 final, that was pretty cool.
