screaming bandwidth

so yeah, i'm getting DSL on the 5th, like i said before.
apparently, that means the phone company can come by in the morning and make my room "dsl ready" almost a week beforehand, which means they somehow killed my connection so now i can only get a measly 26.4K, instead of the pathetic 49.2K that i usually muster.
and the wonderful operator didn't know what the hell he was talking about, but he tried to act like he did and that i was stupid.
