cultural differences

i had the opportunity to talk on the phone with someone who sounded very british (i'm assuming he was in england). the hold music was actually very good; a nice, clear, flowing piano tune, broken only by a woman, also with a british accent, telling me that i was progressing through a queue.

the thing that really struck though was at the end of the conversation, when i said 'bye' and he said 'cheers.'
